Mobile Keyboard Integration

Utilize the voice typing capabilities of your smartphone or tablet's built-in keyboard to issue voice commands directly to ChatGPT. If you own an Android device, the default Gboard keyboard offers voice typing. Follow these steps:

  • Ensure Gboard is your active keyboard.
  • Tap the prompt input box on the ChatGPT interface.
  • Tap the microphone icon located in the top right corner of the Gboard interface.
  • Speak your prompt aloud while it gets transcribed into text.
  • For iPhone users, Google's Gboard is also available on iOS.

Alternatively, Microsoft's SwiftKey keyboard provides a voice typing option as well. To use it:

  • Ensure SwiftKey is installed and activated as your current keyboard.
  • Tap the three-dot icon in the top right corner of the SwiftKey interface.
  • Enable Voice typing to utilize the feature.

Microsoft SwiftKey is available for both Android and iOS.

Built-in Voice Typing on PC or Mac

Similar to mobile devices, you can also employ voice typing on your Windows PC or MacBook while using ChatGPT. Simply activate the voice typing feature when you're on the ChatGPT interface. Chrome Extensions

When accessing ChatGPT via a desktop browser, Chrome extensions offer an additional option for employing voice commands. You can utilize general-purpose text-to-speech extensions or those specifically designed for ChatGPT. Here are a few recommended speech-to-text Chrome extensions for ChatGPT:

  • Voice In: This extension works on most websites where you can type text, including Gmail and the ChatGPT website. It supports multiple languages and transcribes speech quickly.
  • VoiceWave - ChatGPT Voice Control: Purpose-built for ChatGPT, VoiceWave offers various customization features. It transcribes voice commands into text directly within the ChatGPT prompt input box.
  • Talk-to-ChatGPT: Although not the most visually appealing, Talk-to-ChatGPT is widely used and supports major languages. It provides voice typing capabilities and can read out ChatGPT's responses using different AI voices.
  • Voice Control for ChatGPT: This extension enables voice commands for ChatGPT and offers read-back functionality. It adds buttons below the ChatGPT prompt text box to facilitate voice interaction.

While there is currently no official audio input feature for ChatGPT, many users have expressed interest in its implementation. OpenAI has yet to confirm whether such a feature will be introduced. In the meantime, you can employ the methods outlined above to issue voice commands to ChatGPT.
